Practice
My practice has developed through study, workshops and ongoing research in Ireland and abroad, including Crawford College of Art and Design, Limerick School of Art and Design and SRISA Florence, Italy. Time spent developing a focused portfolio in Galway strengthened a way of working grounded in observation, material sensitivity and personal expression.
Encaustic painting has been developed through study with Isabelle Gaborit, a contemporary artist and mentor in the medium. Traditional iconography has been explored under Mihai Cucu, an internationally recognised iconographer and teacher. These influences run through my wider practice, bringing together material language, symbolic form and sustained visual inquiry.
The work is grounded in a close engagement with materials, with attention to surface, light and atmosphere. Encaustic and acrylic are used across varied supports and scales, chosen in response to the needs of each work as it develops over time. The practice is layered and process-led, unfolding through accretion and response.
Based in the west of Ireland, my practice remains responsive to its environment while engaging with inner experience, memory and place.
